  1. where in the berryessa area is this being proposed? my mom lives in that neighborhood, and the idea of a bart station within walking distance of her house is very exciting!

    awesome renders!

  2. The station will be built where the Santa Clara Fairgrounds are right now, and should be surrounded by mid-rise housing with retail on the ground floor.

  3. I just found this by a search on the topic of this station. I'm surprised there is so little information that is more recent than your blog post. This Berryessa BART station is proposed to be built on the site of the San Jose Flea Market which is along Berryessa Road, not the Santa Clara Fairgrounds as Joshua Santos suggests. In 2007 the proposal was to redevelop the entirety of the Flea Market site mostly with high-density residential surrounding the new BART station.

The San Jose Flea Market was to close down in 2010 to make way for this redevelopment, however, I have found no more recent news about this project than 2008, and the Flea Market's own website has a large banner saying "here to stay, here for good" on the news page with no other mention of averting closure or the redevelopment being scuttled, so I don't know for sure what's going on right now.

Early in the planning it was suggested that the Flea Market might move to the Fairgrounds site, so that may be the source of Joshua's confusion.

  4. Hi Tupac, thanks for the clarification! If you find any more recent information please let me know and I'll add a new blog post about it. It's been a long time since I've heard anything substantial about this project.
