2011 San Jose Jazz Festival!

Our good friends over at WMS Media have provided us with a little preview of the San Jose Jazz Festival, which is happening from August 12-14. This is one of the largest Jazz festivals on the west coast and is definitely worth checking out!

  1. I hope the main stage doesn't close at 6pm on Saturday this year. It was most embarrassing taking some out of town visitors there last year at about 7pm to find it was done for the night! I know there were other stages and events but it made San Jose look like some rustic backwater, a little hick town. I've been to jazz festivals in other US cities and in several other countries and NEVER seen one close down so early on any day, never mind Saturday.

  2. Hi - there is plenty still going on at the Jazz Festival when the main stage closes (at 8pm on both Saturday and Sunday). The music doesn't stop then. It goes later on other stages up to midnight on the Jazz Beyond Stage and 1am for the Club Crawl.

Why not start the festival a little later?

San Jose Jazz Festival is doing JUST fine as it is. I have been attending for years and considering the massiveness of it all, it is well put together. I don't recall ever having the main stage shut down at 6pm. Are you sure you were at the main stage? I am both a performer and a music lover. The different genres this festival provides makes everyone leave with a smile on their face, related to music. It lifts your spirit. It's a reunion of like minds. It's a new awakening. There may be minor glitches from time to time. Pulling off such a huge event, glitches are expected. But look at the bigger picture. San Jose Jazz Festival is alright with me.
