@First Updates

The @First development at 237 and First St. has confirmed another tenant, a 5,000 sqft Chase bank. It is also rumored that Fresh & Easy will be their grocery anchor and they are on the lookout for a dry cleaner, hair salon, and dentist. The other leases they have confirmed are:

  • Five Guys Burger and Fries
  • Chick-fil-A
  • Chipotle
  • Sweet Tomatoes
  • Panda Express
  • Premier Pizza
  • Panera
The development already includes a massive Target and a 160 room Hotel Sierra.

  1. A few more for this development...

    CVS Pharmacy
    Super Cuts
    Union Bank
    Coffee Bean
Courtyard by Marriot (replaces Heath Club in original plans)

I would have preferred Trader Joe's over Fresh & Easy but that's just me. I believe a few F & E's are openning up in the Bay area...has anyone checked them out? Are they comparable to Trader Joe's?

    1. Coffee Bean as in The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf?! I certainly hope so as I love their tea and their shops. Their coffee is good too but I'm won't go to SF just for tea or coffee, too much parking hassle. If this is true, you are making my day!

  2. Any idea when chick-fil-a is opening? I know it's this year. Can't wait!

    1. The chickfila sign(that you can see with all the store listings from 237) is up as of this week but is sort of blurred out as the store is not yet there. I take that as a sign it will be built and open soon. The CVS sign is the same way.

  3. Should be this year and they already have some of the restaurant spaces mostly built, but I'm not sure which slot Chick-fil-a is going into.

That is the restaurant I'm looking the most forward to.

  4. I was in SoCal over the weekend and saw a few Coffee Bean shops down there. They look pretty high end ... I'm not sure if we have any in the Bay Area. A nice change from Starbucks & Peets(although Starbucks are in the Target anyway!)

I drive by almost every day and there are some signs ("coming soon" signs) up for Union Bank and Chipotle. Everyone seems to be keen on this Chick-fil-a. You can check the cities website to see the permits being issued for the drive-thru window etc. It cannot be too far away.

    1. Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is really no more high end than Starbucks. The prices are pretty much the same but the flavors are quite different as far as the tea drinks go.

  5. The closest Coffee Bean shops in SF, so I guess that makes 2 new shops for San Jose (Chick-fil-a being the other).

  9. I too would have preferred a Trader Joe's or a Whole Foods over Fresh n Easy. We need one so bad in this area! I'm excited about the possibility of a coffee bean though!

    I do not see it

  13. Still 2 slots there that don't have signs yet. I was there over the weekend and Panera, JP Pizza (not Premier anymore I guess), and Sweet Tomatoes looked like they were on the verge of opening. So that leaves 2 open retail slots still, I'm assuming one for the Coffee Bean and another for Chick Fil A.

  14. Thanks for keeping the updates coming! I'm REALLY hoping Chick Fil-A is open by early November...

  15. Me too, that is the place I am looking forward to the most. I'll be happy when the new Sweet Tomatoes opens up as well.

  16. Looking forward to the Coffee Bean; we're lacking good coffee places around here!

  17. Is there any way we can petition for a Trader Joe's to go in? I've been to Fresh & Easy and TJ's is much better in term of quality and price!

  18. I think it's a done deal :/ I haven't been to a Fresh & Easy yet so I can't comment.

  25. CFA is still going to open the @First location. I spoke with the manager at the Elk Grove CFA and he told me they've had some delays with permits. It's still on for this Spring 2012.

  26. I believe a protest is in order to stop this ultra-conservative, admittedly and outspokenly homophobic and racist company from invading our open minded and culturally diverse Bay Area!!
Chick-Fil-A has a long history of denying equal rights!!!

  27. Anonymous -- if you're so open-minded, try the chicken -- it's delicious. Don't get in the way of our chicken!

  28. Haha protest chick-fil-a of all companies! Yeah that will fix the world! Anyway it won't work as you can see there are too many dedicated followers of their delicious food. Once a protest starts, they'll just send out 3 or 4 of those "free sample" workers and BOOM! protest OVER!
