Massive New Office Project on Coleman

The big projects just keep on rolling in. Hunter/Storm LLC, the same developer behind @First, is gearing up to build out 1.5 million sqft of office space, 2 hotels, and 50,000sqft of retail along Coleman right across the street from the new Earthquakes stadium. The icing on the cake is all this is going in a location near mass transit. The Caltrain station is right around the corner and one day BART will be there as well. SJC is right across the street.

Along with the new stadium, this will indeed be a great project leading people into Downtown from Coleman. Phase one should break ground early next year and be complete by Summer 2014.

  1. Looks like more uninspired big box lameness. I really don't get the process here... was there a chance for any public input or does anyone even know what the buildings look like? Or are we just so desperate that we'll take anything anywhere?

  2. You should really break this into a development section. I dont know if I speak for most, but development news in San Jose is important especially considering the new highrise tax incentives.

  3. Would have been great to get some apartments there, considering it's such a great area that is somehow completely rental-free. Walkability is something this city really needs to consider from time-to-time.

    1. Too close to the airport (if you ask me) for rentals.

I just want to see the soccer stadium!

  4. More bland suburban developments in Anywhere, USA. Just get that stadium built!

    1. I don't mind @First to be fair...you've got a corporate HQ (7 - 8 stories), Target, a couple of hotels (one just being built now) and the shops/eating establishments. It's suburban San Jose at the end of the day. Do you remember what used to be on that corner? It was a wasteland! I live a couple of miles from there and I can still remember when they first proposed the project. The schematics/drawings looked bland and generic and it's turned out OK.

    2. Eh, it's ok, but it could still be in almost any other city in this country (Denver, Phoenix, etc.) and not necessarily the ones we should be emulating.

  5. I would also like to see something more attractive, however, this might be the catalyst for something better.
