I agree that Homelessn...Thanks for the compliment!

I agree that Homelessness can seem like a problem downtown... until you go up to SF, then you realize that we don't have it so bad =). A couple weeks ago I had quite a few leftovers after grabbing lunch downtown and actually spent about 15min looking for a homeless person to give it to, and yes, I did go to all of the popular places where they congregate.

Last weekend I also got to try the new Ross, surprisingly nice store. My wife and I walked out of there with a truckload of nice clothes for a fifth of what we would normally pay at Macy's. It was also a nice store in general, very clean and well organized. The fact that there were plenty of people in there also means that there IS demand for retail downtown.Joshua Santoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08146556924287585958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1923860625279115418.post-85705668872302751782010-09-11T02:28:38.412-07:002010-09-11T02:28:38.412-07:00I am delighted that Ross has finally opened! I lov...I am delighted that Ross has finally opened! I love that store and am soooo happy that one conveniently opened near to my home.

I truly hope the retail trend will continue in downtown San Jose!! Now, if we could only get a small but vibrant bookstore...

Downtown San Jose is a pedestrian's dream, with broad, gorgeous tree lined sidewalks (the city should be paying closer attention to the trees-they are what gives the area so much of its appeal, yet they don't get the proper amount of water since they have very little soil area).

The challenge to creating a vibrant downtown is addressing the homelessness problem. Attracting more professionals and wealth in the area will not solve that problem-it will only draw in the more needy).

I'd love to actually stroll through St. James Park.

Sorry for the ramblings...again, love Ross, happy for SJ retail!

AND, great blog Joshua. Kudos.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
