San Jose Cat Day Returns This Weekend With Feline Fun Across Downtown

Cat enthusiasts across the South Bay will find their perfect gathering spot this Saturday in Downtown San Jose. The second annual San Jose Cat Day will take over Paseo de San Antonio and the Post Street area from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. as a free celebration packed with vendors, kittens, and creative activities.

More than 55 local makers, artists, and small businesses will set up shop at the Paseo de San Antonio with cat-themed goods ranging from artwork to one-of-a-kind accessories. Early arrivals among the first 1,000 guests will pick up a special San Jose Cat Day giveaway while supplies last.

Near the MOMENT Post Street storefronts, the Kitten Lounge from Mini Cat Town will let visitors meet adoptable kittens during 15-minute sessions. Craft stations will offer hands-on experiences including friendship bracelet making and cat-themed coloring, while food vendors will serve up themed treats and desserts. San Pedro Saturdays: A Vibrant Celebration of Community in Downtown San Jose

Downtown San Jose transforms each month with San Pedro Saturdays, a lively event series that turns San Pedro Street into a pedestrian-friendly playground. Organized by the San Jose Downtown Association alongside local partners like SJ Made and Moment SJ, these gatherings bring a fresh dose of energy to the city. With themes ranging from San Jose Cat Day to Spring Bloom Day and Pawlentine’s Day, there’s a distinct flavor to every event, appealing to plant lovers, pet owners, and everyone in between. 

Held at San Pedro Square, a historic gem in the heart of Downtown San Jose, these events draw crowds with their mix of local vendors, artists, and makers. The street closes to traffic, opening up space for over 20 booths where you can find handmade goods, tasty bites, and creative works—all crafted by folks from the area. Today there will also be spin-the-wheel-prizes, friendship bracelets, a community mural, and Gizmo the robot dog. 

Entry is free, dogs are encouraged to tag along, and all ages can join in the fun.

South First Street Night Market Lights Up Downtown San Jose on April 26

Downtown San Jose comes alive on Saturday, April 26 with the vibrant South First Street Night Market, Hosted along South First Street, this free, family-friendly event runs from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., transforming the heart of the SoFA District into a bustling open-air marketplace. The night market promises an evening filled with local flavors, unique crafts, and live entertainment.

The South First Street Night Market features an impressive lineup of over 50 vendors, offering everything from artisanal goods to mouthwatering street food. Attendees can savor dishes inspired by San Jose’s multicultural culinary scene, including tacos, boba tea, and fusion bites from local food trucks and pop-up stalls. Craft vendors will display handmade jewelry, artwork, and clothing, highlighting the talents of South Bay artisans.

Live performances are a cornerstone of the night market, with local musicians, DJs, and dance groups taking the stage throughout the evening. Expect a mix of genres, from indie rock to Latin rhythms, reflecting the diverse sounds of San Jose.
