TWO BUCK Tuesday Jan. 15th!

Join us at KALEID Gallery for this upcoming TWO BUCK Tuesday, January 15th, 7pm-10pm!
Come enjoy an inspired evening of performances, live painting, $2 art, drop-in sketching table & quirky people get together! It’s open to all ages and free!

While you’re here, you can enjoy our annual HARK! exhibit of over 50 regional artists with small, affordable works.

Here’s some of the great things to see and do this time:


Bring your sketchbook and pencils and come drop in at the sketching table and enjoy a Life drawing session with Lara Sophia’s costumed models. (To volunteer to pose yourself: contact Lara4art at yahoo dot com)

ARTRAGE Tomorrow at the San Jose Museum of Art

November 15, 2012
7–10 PM
Tickets are $5 after 5 PM
(2-for-1 for members; free for college students, faculty, and staff with ID)
Live entertainment and creative fun inspired by the new exhibition Dive Deep: Eric Fischl and the Process of Painting. Explore the museum to 1980s tunes from The Next Wednesday Band and beach-y steelpan music from Cardinal Calypso. Get creative with DIY Art for adults and a demo of 3-D printing from TechShop. Join your friends at the “hot tub time machine” photo-booth. Beer, wine, and pub food are available at CafĂ© Too (no-host bar). College Night: The Nov. 15 ArtRage is free to college students, faculty, and staff with ID.

Little Red Lung Coming to Art Boutiki Novemeber 10th

SLG Art Boutiki is continuing to become a destination for indie music. Next week on November 10th they will host Little Red Lung from LA, which is promoting their latest album. Also performing will be Koruscant Weekend, Fossil Tree, Major Powers, and the Lo-Fi Symphony. The show starts at 8pm and costs $10. Chara will screen 2 of her animated short films.
“End Street Harassment” is a illustrated poem themed for the international movement, Hollaback, which aims to end street harassment around the world.
“Your Heart’s Door” is a 1 minute animation with poetry and music to illustrate the sentiment of being a part of something greater than the self.
Chara Bui combines poetry, music, and drawing to create animations on a variety of topics that deal with being an aware human being in the world.

Two Buck Tuesday Today!

Join us at KALEID Gallery for this upcoming Two Buck Tuesday!
Come enjoy an inspired evening of art demos, performances, live painting, $2 art & quirky people get together!
Here's some of what you have to look forward to this time:

Two Buck regular Nicolas Caesar invites the public to his Monster Mash-up. Mad Scientists of all ages get a chance to illustrate, invent or remix a monster with the encouragement of Nik’s demented eye. Most people may know Nik from TV20’s Creepy Kofy Movie Time, as the artist and curator of Scream 4, as well as Fearnet’s Holiday Fear Finds.
Also on display will be several remixes Nik did from Arroyo High School students monsters.


Brande Barrett will demonstrate how to make art into glass pendants.


The San Jose Yarnbombers will show you how to make a simple yarn flower with a loom. Supplies will be provided.


Fun stencil making workshop with Michele Guieu: make a stencil (or more!) and compose a cool page using different acrylic colors applied with a foam stencil brush. Kids welcome. All material provided.


David Mejia will draw your portrait on the spot for a small fee.

In conjunction with her current featured exhibit Selcouth, Shannon Amidon will have a curiosity jar making station. For a small fee you can make and take home your very own little curiosity bottle using, feathers, minerals, bones, or other oddities.

The San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles invites you to participate in Crazy Quilts a fun interactive crazy patchwork method of quilting!

Nathan will host Juxl Puzzle, A simple yet challenging strategy game you can play with just a piece of paper and a pencil. You start with 12 short lines that you connect with curves and ultimately build a protective maze around your character. Setup up fast! Start with conception, then build your ultimate Mind Maze by strategically navigating around every single line that you’ve already put down. The rules are simple but deceptively challenging!
