Playful People Productions Presents: Disney’s Peter Pan JR


Peter Pan JR. is the story of the boy who wouldn’t grow up and the girl who has to. After finding his shadow in the Darling family nursery, Peter teaches Wendy, Michael and John how to fly and sweeps them off to Never Land, where they meet Lost Boys, mermaids, indians and, of course, pirates.  If the children are ever to return home, Peter must defeat Captain Hook with the help of Tinker Bell and her fairy friends. Peter Pan JR. features classic songs from the 1953 film such as, “You Can Fly!,” “Following the Leader” and “The Second Star to the Right” as well as songs from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and the 2008 Disney film Tinker Bell.

Founded in 2010, Playful People Production’s mission is to provide a quality, caring environment where children, teens and their families can have positive theater experiences. We strive to involve all family members in the many aspects of on stage and backstage theater in a safe and fun environment and offer participation in theatrical productions, classes, summer stock and camps for ages 3-93.

Playful People Productions is run by a mother-daughter team, Barbara Galiotto and Katie D’ Arcey, who between them have approximately 50 years of experience in the musical theater world. Both are Positive Discipline trained and worked as early Childhood Educators as well as in the theater.

A pop culture phenomenon comes to the stage. Playful People Productions Presents: Disney’s Aladdin Kids and Aladdin Jr





Welcome to Agrabah, the City of Enchantment, and experience the fantastic tale of the street urchin who became a prince! Aladdin, a kind but wily street urchin, falls in love with the beautiful Princess Jasmine. It just so happens that the Sultan has declared that Princess Jasmine must choose a husband by the next day. After she turns down the offers from many wealthy suitors, Aladdin and the evil Jafar battle for Jasmine’s love. With a little help from a wacky genie, Aladdin manages to win Jasmine’s hand in marriage. All of your favorite characters from the hit Disney film – Aladdin, Jasmine, Iago, Jafar, the Genie, and more – are here in Disney’s Aladdin Kids and JR. A musical adventure filled with magic, mayhem, and flying carpet rides, audiences spirits will sore with excitement. This tuneful award-winning score with songs including “A Whole New World” and “Friend Like Me” will have your entire family dancing in their seats.

Playful People Productions Presents: Disney Jungle Book Kids

For those with kids, there is a great family event at the Historic Hoover Theater (across the street from the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum). Full details below:


Our tale begins deep in the heart of the Jungle. A baby boy, lost and abandoned, is raised by wolves. He is called “Mowgli”. On the run from Shere Khan, a ferocious tiger who has banished him from the jungle, a human boy named Mowgli is aided by an agile panther named Bagheera. Along the way, the two meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants, and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swingin’ musical rhythms of the jungle. After surviving a dangerous encounter with a band of monkeys led by King Louie, Mowgli and Bagheera are forced to run for their lives. Shere Khan returns, leading our protagonists to rally their follow jungle creatures into battle and restore peace to the jungle.

The Wizard of Oz and Twister @ Hoover Theater

Playful People Productions has two family-oriented shows coming up at the Historic Hoover Theater.  The first will be a traditional musical rendition of The Wizard of Oz performed by their youth cast next weekend. The second is Twister, a parody performance by their teen and adult cast the following week (the Saturday show will benefit the Cindy Mulcahy Scholarship Fund). After a tornado sweeps Dorothy Gale from her Kansas home, she lands over the rainbow and wakes up in Land of Oz. Dorothy and her three newfound friends journey on a quest to find heart, brains, courage, and most importantly, home. Click your heels together and join Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, Dorothy and her little dog Toto, as they journey through the magical land of Oz to meet the Wizard and obtain their heart’s desire. Join us for a musical adventure for the whole family!

Playful People Productions Presents: Disney’s 101 Dalmatians Kids


Dalmatian parents Pongo and Perdita live a happy, quiet life in London with their eight puppies and two human pets – Roger and Anita.  But when their villainous neighbor Cruella De Vil decides to kidnap the puppies with the help of her two henchmen, the race is on for the dogs of London to find and save the puppies before they become another fur coat in Cruella’s collection!

Keep your pups on their leashes!  Disney’s 101 Dalmatians KIDS is certain to charm and delight all audiences.  A fun and spirited adaptation of the classic Disney animated film, performed by a fabulous cast of eager 4-9 year olds who are sure to put a smile on your face!

Special Events & Programming for Star Wars at The Tech Museum


Stellar Programming Unveiled for
Star Wars®: Where Science Meets Imagination
The Tech Museum of Innovation debuts new series of events

SAN JOSE, CA – An out-of-this-world lineup of lectures, workshops, and celebrations at The Tech will run alongside the popular exhibition, Star Wars®: Where Science Meets Imagination, presented by Bose Corporation®.

Beginning Saturday, October 19 through Sunday, February 23, 2014, the museum will host a variety of engaging special events, programs, and workshops that bring the magic of all 6 films alive. Guests will not only discover the science behind lightsabers and create their own flying hovercrafts, they will also explore the futuristic technologies depicted in the films and the real science behind them and the research that might someday lead to real-life versions.

The Tech’s Star Wars programming will include:

Jedi™ Nights presented by ScholarShare College Savings Plan
Special evening celebrations of all things Star Wars! Grab your lightsaber and dress up in your favorite Star Warscostume. Re-create your favorite scenes, meet and take photos with Stormtroopers, R2-D2, and Jedi Knights, or train for the Jedi™ Academy. Tickets for Jedi Nights include admission to the exhibition.

Hands-on Science Workshop - Jedi Tech
Opening October 5, the science behind Star Wars becomes reality in The Tech’s hands-on workshops. Techsabers – where visitors will tinker with circuitry, LEDs, and various light diffusing and reflecting materials – and Skywalker Writing where guests leverage “the Force” for intergalactic light paintings and control their own hovercrafts. Workshops are free with museum admission.

The Tech Connects
An engaging new program that brings ideas and people together to explore and discuss the different intersections technology make with our world. Guest speakers will look at a range of topics including the phenomenon, visual effects, droids, and women of Star Wars. Lectures fees vary; members get discounted tickets. Tickets go on sale September 10.

Hidden Universe
Experience an extraordinary journey into space. Explore the earliest galaxies, travel the terrain of Mars, and peer deep inside the universe’s most mysterious nebulae where stars are born in The Hackworth IMAX® Dome Theater – the largest dome screen in the West at 8-stories high. Extra fee applies to IMAX films

This scrumdidilyumptious musical is guaranteed to delight everyone's sweet tooth! Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR and Willy Wonka KIDS follows enigmatic candy manufacturer, Willy Wonka, as he stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five scrumptious candy bars.  The lucky winners will get a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are brats: the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie, who takes the tour with his equally amiable Grandpa Joe. This scrumdidilyumptious musical is guaranteed to  take the audiences on a fantasy ride into the land of pure imagination!
