San Pedro Square Market Updates
From the San Pedro Square Market Blog:
The San Pedro Square Market is getting better and better everyday. Our Market Manager Steve Borkenhagen has leased five new tenants in less than two weeks bringing us up to 80% occupied.
With so much going on, we needed to let everybody know what is on tap in the coming months. First, we will be filling you in on all of our new tenants, concepts andevents. Second, we are planning a fashion show with the help of our newest tenantJoelle Cruz, stay tuned for our upcoming blog post for all of the details on the above items. Now for the good stuff, Our first San Pedro Square Market restaurant spotlight: Pizza Bocca Lupo.
Located in the El Dorado Bakery Building, Pizza Bocca Lupo will be run by a native Neapolitan with a passion for thin crust pizza. Owner-operator Ron DeVries was trained in Naples, Italy by one of the first pizzerias to be VPN (Verace Pizza Napoletana) certified. Pizza Bocca Lupo will be the first Neapolitan pizzeria in the south bay that bakes in a hand-made brick oven imported from Naples (on its way now). The oven cooks the pizza in 1-2 minutes at very high temperatures giving them a distinct taste and texture.
The pizza will be baked using the same ingredients as the best pizzerias in Naples: very fine Tipo 00 flour, authentic San Marzano Tomatoes grown in the vulcanic soil of Mount Vesuvio, fresh mozzarella, and more. High quality locally-found ingredients will also be available.
Ron is going to be a wonderful addition to our project and I must say I cannot wait to taste his pizzas there is nothing better than a thin crust, wood fired pizza.
Stay tuned for our upcoming blogs:

San Pedro Square Market has an Official Launch Date: September 10!
The market is opening just in time to catch some warm summer weather! September 10 is the official date, although there will be soft openings for several vendors before then. I also wouldn't be surprised if there is an epic SJ Eats event to coincide with the opening.
Also, check out this great blog post about the market at the Silicon Valley Lofts & Condo's blog right over here.
CORRECTION: This is not the official launch, but a sneak preview!

San Pedro Square Market Letters of Intent!
Are you guys ready for an update regarding my favorite upcoming project in Downtown San Jose? While I can't provide any names besides Barefoot Coffee and Veggielution, I can tell you what types of vendors have signed Letters of Intent for the San Pedro Square Market!
- Barber Shop
- Bike Rentals
- I can give you a little more info about this one. These are supposed to be electronic bikes that you can rent and ride all around downtown (the electronic assist will work for ~20 miles). When you're done, they plug them in and recharge the battery for the next rider.
- Cards
- Chocolate (unconfirmed)
- Concierge
- Falafels
- Flowers (unconfirmed)
- Frozen Custard (supposed to be amazing)
- Fruit Smoothies
- Gorditas
- Guatemalan Imports
- Gyros (unconfirmed)
- Italian Food
- Latino Kitchen Products
- Pho
- Produce
- Raviolis
- Sausages (unconfirmed)
- Shirts and Caps
- Spring Rolls
- Tamales and Enchiladas
- Toffee
- Wine Bar
Many more Letters of Intent are pending and hopefully we can get actual names soon! I have more information about ideas that are being thrown that will create some synergy between the vendors, but I'll save that for another post later this week. If you have any thoughts on what other types of vendors you would like to see at the Market, please post in the comments!

San Jose Public Market Updates
Last week a few more details were revealed regarding the San Jose Public market. The first 2 tenants have been announced! Taking the anchor spot on San Pedro St. will be Barefoot Coffee. Specializing in fresh organic coffee and based in San Jose (with only a single retail location in Santa Clara off of Stevens Creek), I'm sure this will be a perfect fit for the Public Market. High-end restaurants like Manresa and Parcel 104 choose Barefoot Coffee to serve, as does Zanatto's Markets.
The second tenant, Veggielution, is just as interesting. These guys started on a mission to bring sustainable food to San Jose. They began growing fresh produce in the backyards of homes in Downtown San Jose and now have a one acre urban farm in Emma Prusch Farm Park (less than 2 miles away from Downtown). The only way to get produce more locally grown than Veggielution would be to have a farm on the roof of the Public Market itself.
So far, I think we're off to a great start. Both of these vendors will help create a unique experience that you won't be able to find anywhere else, and I think they'll draw people from outside the immediate area Downtown as well.
