Wednesday Wishlist: Amazing Architecture, Even with Height Limits

It has been a while since I have done a Wednesday Wishlist, but when I saw this building design in the development forums it blew my mind and I had to share. The best part is something like this is entirely doable within Downtown San Jose's height limits. Check out the design of the PARKROYAL Hotel in Singapore.

  1. Whoa, that's a lot of columns. Wonder how they passed seismic...

  2. This would be perfect at the Boston Properties site on Almaden, with the open greenery facing west towards the Guadalupe River.

    1. I was just thinking the same thing for the same lot. However I'd prefer to see it open to Almaden. There are only trees towards the back end of this facing the river. I think it would make more sense to open it to the street and "soften" the hardness of the street and the CC.
The Architecture of One Market is a good start for San Jose

  3. I think an Apple store would enhance the architectural landscape, like the one in NYC.

  4. I've been a long time "lurker" of your blog, Joshua; I'm a San Jose bred boy but have moved out to Singapore for work. I've actually been to a work function at this building, very cool architecture, almost like a 21st century version of what 1960s architects thought the 21st century would be. Something like this could definitely work in San Jose. Actually I think a lot of the urban planning/architecture in Singapore could potentially work back home! Singapore is a very multi-modal city, utilizes a lot of green space, and has excellent public transportation and density.
