October 2017 Downtown Dimension Highlights

Here are my notes from the latest edition of Downtown Dimension:
  • BART construction in Downtown is expected to start in 2019 and finish in 2026. The big debate is between using a double-bore tunnel (like every other subway in the US) or a single-bore tunnel that would greatly minimize disruption to Downtown but has only been used overseas.
  • KT Urban proposed two towers:
    • a 27-story, 285-unit tower with 6,105 SQFT of retail at 600 S. First in SoFA
    • an 18-story, 302-unit tower in North San Pedro with 10,000 SQFT of retail
  • Equus Capital Partners wants to build a 24-story, 260 unit tower with 1,500 SQFT of retail in CityView Plaza.
  • ECI2 North Third wants to build a 26-story, 400-unit tower for student housing near City Hall.
  • Taco Annex is now open at 287 S. First inside the SoFA Market.
  • Earl of Sandwich opened their first Norther California location at the corner of Market and Santa Clara.
  • Crewners Barber Shop moved out of the San Pedro Square Market and is now across the street at Community Towers, 111 St. John St., Suite 140. They also offer free beer in their larger space.
  • The SJDA Annual Meeting is Oct. 13 at the San Jose First United Methodist Church (24 N. Fifth St.) from 8-9:30am.
