Tanishq Unveils a Gem of a Store in Santa Clara

San Jose’s South Asian community—and jewelry lovers across the Bay Area—have something special to explore with the arrival of Tanishq’s flagship store in Santa Clara. The 5,100 sq. ft. showroom, located at 3406 El Camino Real, opened its doors earlier this year and celebrated its official grand opening on May 8. The event brought a slice of Indian tradition to Silicon Valley with a lamp-lighting ceremony, a ribbon cutting, and a musical performance. Santa Clara’s mayor joined even local leaders and enthusiastic visitors.

The showroom dazzles with thousands of gold and diamond pieces, each one a testament to Indian craftsmanship with a modern twist. Collections like Rhythms of Rain and Tales of Mystique stand out, offering designs that tie into cultural heritage while marking life’s big moments such as weddings, festivals, or even a just well-deserved treat.

What makes this opening exciting for the San Jose metro is how it adds to the city’s growing reputation as a hub for culture and creativity. The store’s luxurious vibe and focus on heritage invite everyone to discover something unique.

Three county offices relocated to North San Jose

A former Cisco office off Tasman in North San Jose will now provide a variety of Santa Clara County services in North San Jose. These include the Assessor's Office, the Department of Tax and Collections, and the Clerk-Recorder's Office.

These services used to be at 70 W. Hedding Street and 8523 North First Street and could be inconvenient when it comes to parking (which was mostly metered). It could also be a long walk from parking to the County offices, which are next to Courthouses and the San Jose Main Jail. On the other hand, the new offices have plentiful free and convenient parking yet are also still close to VTA bus routes and VTA Light Rail.

The new campus also has a special surprise for couples that are getting married--a brand new indoor and outdoor wedding chapel!

Wedding venues in San Jose

SJ Today has a great guide on wedding venues in San Jose. It takes a quirky kind of couple to consider the Winchester Mystery House, but that is one of the options on the list. See their recommendations over here.

New Event Center Downtown Called "The Glasshouse"

The space formerly housing the Entrepreneur Center on the ground floor of 84 West Santa Clara has been vacant for quite some time. Now, the same owners of the Corinthian Event Center are planning to create a new 17,000 SQFT event space they are calling The Glasshouse where the Entrepreneur Center used to sit (it has since been moved to 100 East Santa Clara).

The plan is for a full-service venue that will cater to corporate events, weddings, conferences and parties. The aesthetic will be very modern and upscale featuring plenty of glass (you would expect this based on the name, right?). As an added bonus, they plan to eventually add a cafe with "substantial" outdoor patio seating on Market Street. Another option is a bar/lounge concept.

This will fill up yet another key corner on Santa Clara Street and bring new life and activity to the block. The Glasshouse is shooting for a December opening.

Saturday Stats: San Jose Ranks as the #10 Best City of Same-Sex Weddings

With the demise of the Defense of Marriage Act, California cities can now be included as the best places for gay weddings. Those cities will benefit from increased dollars being pumped into the economy for ceremonies and receptions, as well as happier residents that are no longer discriminated against.

San Jose ranked #10 on the list of best cities for same-sex weddings in the country. San Francisco ranked #1, and I will say that is well deserved (there, I paid a rare compliment to SF =).

The rankings are based on 12 different pieces of criteria including the HRC Equality Index, % of gay population, gay bars per capita, florists per capita, bridal shops per capita, hotels per capita, wedding planners per capita (SJ ranked #3), DJs per capita (SJ ranked #4), catering companies per capita, bakeries per capita, and photographers per capita (SJ ranked #3). See the full top 10 list below:
