Ruffled Feathers Eatery Info!

A couple days ago I posted a list of new retail coming to Downtown San Jose in Q2 and Q3 of this year. An anonymous reader found the Ruffled Feathers Eatery Facebook page and suggested I take a look. Turns out Ruffled Feathers is taking over what used to be Asqew Grill (was Zing before that) in a heavily trafficked corner on First, right behind the Fairmont at 200 S. First St., Ste. 10. I asked a couple questions on Facebook and below was the response. Can't wait to try this place out!

Ruffled Feathers Eatery

"Hi Josh!
Ruffled Feathers Eatery will be serving delicious, nutritious, and affordable food. Our menu is filled with rotisserie chicken, salads, and pitas with a few pastas and pita pizzas to mix it up. We will also have an amazing dessert bar with treats ranging from fondue to cupcakes and frozen yogurt.

An important part of the restaurant will be that the produce will be locally grown when ever possible. This will ensure that it is always fresh as well as helping our local community.

We chose San Jose because it is the best city around, isn't it? After countless hours of searching for the right location, our corner spot had us jumping with joy when we found it. We are looking forward to meeting the locals, having a party, and eating that bird with you on the patio!

Please let us know if you have any more questions and we will be sure to keep you posted on our progress as we get closer to opening!"

If you guys have any questions, post em in the comments or head over to their Facebook page!

  1. San Jose doesn't need an another Sonoma Chicken coop.. I give it 2 years or less.. been watching downtown for 13 years I am not usually wrong.

  2. Try it first before you judge! =) At minimum the location is much better than Sonoma Chicken and I think it will be a different spin. Let's wait and see.

  6. Definately not Sonoma Chicken Coup. The food is fantastic, fresh, and full of flavor. I repeat - not a Sonoma Chicken Coup. And, the dessert bar is beyond what they describe, The strawberry bread pudding with housemade gelato is amazing. I heard that they hired Chef Tracy Lauth who was the Pastry Chef at the Silicon Valley Capital Club and Flea Street Cafe in Menlo Park for Jesse Cool.

It is just what the area needs. I too have seen restaurants come and go. This has real potential of being a winner and I for one hope they thrive.

  8. This restaurant has something on the menu for everyone. The freshness of the food is awesome. The rotissere chicken is tender and moist with 4 different flavors. I can't wait to try them all. I will be a regular at this restaurant, they know how to prepare food, have a friendly staff and the best decor I have seen in any place downtown. Try it out, you won't be sorry!

  9. ummmmm....YUMMY!!! I have eaten here every week since this place has opened, which has only been three weeks I think and I have not been dissapointed in what I have tried so far. I love the mac n' cheese as a side to go along with my healthier choices of salads or pita wraps. It's so hard to decide what to get each time because everything listed on their menu is what I am in the mood for. The dessert bar is such a unique and yummy treat. I love that they came up with that idea. I have tried the fondue which the pastry chef told me she even makes the marshmellows and cookies served with it. The lemon blueberry parfait is to die for if you like a bit of tartness! I chatted with the pastry chef as I ate my treat at the bar which was fun. I even saw other employees talking to customers which seems to say a lot about how important we are to them. I know its a long comment but I just have such good things to say and I want this restaurant to stick around since its a healthy, affordable (especially being a student) and adorable place to enjoy especially in downtown.

  11. Their food is eh... the chicken tasted like it was left in the sun for a day, and put on my "pitza" as well as it being completely dry. The wait time was insane on getting my order, and the people weren't friendly. Not happy.

  12. I had the best experience at this new restaurant, not only was the food the best I've had in along time, it was so fresh and very affordable. The staff was very friendly without being annoying, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. A great place to have lunch or dinner and a perfect place to have some of their low priced desserts. This just may be my new favorite restaurant, can't wait to return, I am hooked on the hummus and baked pita chips as well as the basil lemonade.

  13. WOW! Can't believe that healthy eating can taste so good. This place is perfect for those looking for Fresh, Healthy and Affordable food which they promote. I had the Eatery Pitza (their version of a pizza)it was fabulous, can't wait to return. I ordered and received my food in under 10 minutes, not bad for a busy lunch time place.

  14. After an hour wait for our food (the place was not packed) the waiter spoke to the owner and said our food would be comped, but low and behold when we went to the register she said she she would not refund us and it was not a good time to speak to her! WOW!! Then she said she would take it out of the waiters paycheck! I'm all for supporting our local businesses, but not when it comes down to owners/management degrading employees! I suggest the owner learn how to run a business and treat employee with more respect.
