West San Jose's Food Scene Levels Up with Sweetgreen's Grand Opening at El Paseo de Saratoga

West San Jose residents will gain convenient access to fresh, high-quality meals when Sweetgreen opens its Saratoga + Campbell restaurant on May 19 at El Paseo de Saratoga.

The new 2,406 square foot space will showcase the brand's commitment to transparency and sustainability through an open kitchen and a source board that highlights local California suppliers including Jayleaf for baby spinach and wild arugula plus Dynasty Farms for kale.

Guests can explore an expanded menu that introduces hearty protein-packed wraps in options such as Chicken Caesar and Bacon Club alongside limited-time offerings like the Chicken Sesame Crunch salad and Korean BBQ inspired proteins.

A full week of community activations will mark the launch with giveaways ranging from limited edition cycling merchandise and Cotopaxi fanny packs to hands-on experiences including a DIY plant bar from Little Green and a mini bouquet workshop from Sweet Pea the Flower Truck.

Sweetgreen will also extend its impact beyond the plate by donating a meal to Hunger at Home for every order placed on opening day to support food security efforts throughout Santa Clara County.

Early birds who arrive between 10 and 11 a.m. on May 19 stand to receive a complimentary entrée while supplies last with additional perks available throughout the celebratory week.

The restaurant will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. offering in-store dining along with online and app ordering for those who prefer to plan ahead.

Downtown San Jose Breakfast Just Got Much More Exciting

Downtown San Jose received a fantastic new addition earlier this month with the opening of Pretty Good Advice. This fast-casual spot from Michelin-starred chef Matt McNamara brings ingredients harvested from his own Santa Cruz Mountains farm right into the heart of the city.

The signature OG Spicy Boy sandwich has already won fans. It stacks a fried egg, crispy hash brown, roasted jalapeños, caramelized onions, and spicy aioli between slices of ciabatta. The farm-to-table focus ensures every bite tastes fresh and full of flavor.

McNamara, who spent his childhood in Cupertino, deliberately picked Downtown San Jose for the new location. He designed the menu around accessible pricing and mostly vegetarian options that still appeal broadly.

San Jose continues building momentum in its food scene. Spots like Pretty Good Advice contribute meaningfully to the goal of making this city an outstanding place to live and explore every single day.

Pretty Good Advice is open from 9am-5pm Monday through Friday at 125 Paseo de San Antonio.
